Antique Victorian Era Minerva Tin Head Girl Doll in Bed w/ Bed Clothes - Germany

Description

Beautiful Minerva tin-head doll with a leather body that has undergone some repairs over time. She comes complete with a gorgeous wooden sleigh bed, a ticking mattress, pillows, two woolen blankets and a quilt (which not only covers the bed but has drops on three sides to create a bed skirt). Doll usually wears an undershirt and bloomers, covered with a sky-blue, heavily smocked blue dress. She also has an embroidered cotton dress and a cotton nightie.
We believe this doll was a childhood gift to our grandmother, who was born in 1912 in Maine. All of the cotton and wool is stained, especially the pillows, and there are places where the lace has come loose or some slight tearing needs repair, but everything except the body of the doll is complete. The clothing involves extensive needlework, much of it hand-sewn, and quite a bit of hand-tatted lace.
