    The Unicorn
Issued from 1969-1974 in a Limited Edition of only 500 pieces
This sculpture is signed and numbered for authenticity
Cybis is recognized by collectors and connoisseurs throughout the world for its
unsurpassed beauty and offers today's collector a timeless symbol of elegance and taste.
Each Cybis work of art is individually handcrafted and hand decorated in America
by the skilled Cybis artisans, with no two sculptures ever being exactly alike.
This particular piece is exceptionally well-painted, and as a result, is by far
more exquisite in comparison to some others which may have yellow horn, mane & tail hair...
Since each piece is individually hand painted by one of several different artisans in the studio,
no two pieces in the same style are ever exactly alike when they are completed,
mainly due to each artist's own personal preference of color palettes
used in the finishing stages of production...
** For years, I have kept one of these in my bedroom and two others in separate
areas of the home as well...sadly, I must get rid of many of my possessions as we have simply
accumulated too much stuff...I originally paid upwards of 0 for this particular piece
(broken and repaired prior to purchase), but will consider Best Offers **
Behold the mighty Unicorn, cantering through a forest, in the depths of which it dwells, protecting the woodland animals.
Its presence is marked by flowers that spring from the ground, blooming year-round, wherever its cloven hooves tread.
A silver lock dangles from a braided gold cord chain around its neck, signifying the elusive unicorn has been
captured by a pure and beautiful young maiden, to which he was irresistibly drawn by her virgin innocence and charms.
Throughout many stories of the unicorn, its spiraled horn, the alicorn, is said to have great medicinal powers such as the ability to
neutralize poisons, cure illness, purify water, and bring life to things that death has recently visited.
In medieval legend, the pomegranate tree beside him is a fertility symbol and an important feature in the hunt of this magical creature.
Once captured, the only way to tame and hold onto the mythical beast was to chain it to a pomegranate tree.
The sculpture is mounted on a ¾" thick smooth sanded and polished wood base (felted to protect your furniture), which has been
carved to loosely follow the contour of the bottom of the figure quite nicely, with a border of approximately 1" all around
